Level 2 Award in Hygiene in Health and Social Care

Infection Control for Health and Social Care

Hand washing It is estimated that nearly 1.5 million people in the UK are employed in health and social care and many more are registered or informal carers supporting family members and friends.

This half-day course is designed to give the learner an introduction to hygiene and infection control. 

The course is aimed at giving learners the information on what infection is, the different types of infection and pathogens and how these can spread and grow within a care setting. We also cover hygiene risk assessment so learners can achieve and understanding of how to prevent and manage the risk of infection with the working environment.

The course is ideal for those learners who:

  • Work as support staff within the care sector
  • Care manager and team leaders
  • Cleaning staff and domestic staff
  • Anyone who may be caring for vulnerable relatives or friends
  • Those staff who work as child care professionals

A Choice of Certification

This course is certificated by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health for those requiring an accredited Level 2  qualification. As an alternative, Cognet offer our own Infection Control course which is delivered by the same trainers, over a half day and covers the same content and learning outcomes and can offer a cost saving. Course Requirements / Notes:

It is advisable that learners have achieved a Level 2 Health and Safety qualification. Those individuals who have achieved the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care are exempt form doing this course because the course content is duplicated.
